East New York Farms! provides a wide-range of support to help residents grow their own food and make their gardens vibrant community gathering places. We coordinate assistance from our youth program, encouraging intergenerational connections; offer free and low-cost supplies to increase food production using organic methods; provide access to markets, fostering entrepreneurship; create opportunities for gardeners to meet each other and educate other community members; support advocacy for the preservation of their gardens; and offer trainings on everything from sustainable gardening methods to effective marketing techniques. We support more than 20 community gardens and 20 backyard gardens every year. We also work more closely with longstanding East New York gardens through the CHANGE Gardens Program to upgrade aging infrastructure, recruit new members, and involve neighbors in new ways.
